With a good portion of the sports world coming to a halt under the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s been an empty spot in the lives of many sports fans that very few things can fill. This is especially the case when it comes to the City of Brotherly Love, one of the most devoted sports cities in the country. Our everyday lives have changed thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, which continues to affect the Greater Philadelphia Area. Aside from the health scare that has been present, this pandemic has also resulted in adverse effects from an economic standpoint and has made life a bit more chaotic for the essential workers who must still report to their jobs. These include grocery store clerks, auto mechanics, and, of course, medical professionals who are treating those affected.
On the night of March 11th, a game between the Utah Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder was suddenly postponed seconds before tipoff. Fans were told to leave the stadium, and in a state of confusion, they did. Within the next half hour, it was announced that the cancellation of the game was a result of Jazz star Rudy Gobert testing positive for COVID-19. Shortly after that, commissioner Adam Silver shocked the world when he announced that the NBA would be suspending its season indefinitely.
When it was announced that the country would be placed under a stay-at-home order as a result of COVID-19 and that non-essential businesses would be closed or operating in a limited fashion, it was difficult. Many businesses had to make adjustments, including Spike’s Trophies. As a result, we are not currently operating and providing your sports awards that New Jersey and beyond have come to know us for.
