Introducing The New Big Four: Sixers and Elton Brand Going All In

The February 7th NBA Trade Deadline is a day on the calendar every professional basketball fan marks down. The weeks, days, and even hours leading up to the trade deadline could see any player traded, even if he’s playing in a game!

In one of our most recent blogs, we talked about our hometown 76ers acquiring Jimmy Butler in a mid-season trade. Well, a lot has transpired since that post. Now, the Sixers are set to unleash a new Big Four on the court and begin to make a championship push thanks to this recent blockbuster trade! Learn more about the deal below!

The Sixers and GM Elton Brand made it clear that “The Process” is complete and the time is now to win a championship. With the final touches put on a deal that sends Landry Shamet, Wilson Chandler, Mike Muscala, and picks to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, and Mike Scott (No, not that Michael Scott); the 76ers officially begin a new chapter in team history.

Fans who suffered through the dark days of “The Process” will now be treated to a new Big Four: Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, and Tobias Harris.

Tobias Harris is quietly putting together the best season of his career. He is averaging 20-points-per-game and should slide nicely into the Sixers lineup. It’s important to note that Harris is a free agent at the end of this season, which means two things for Sixers fans:

  1. If the 76ers make a serious championship push, there’s a possibility he could re-sign with Philadelphia.
  2. If Harris tries the free agency market, the 76ers avoid paying him close to max money and can try to sign other players in the offseason.

Also making his way to Philadelphia via Los Angeles is 7′ 3″, 291 lbs center Boban Marjanovic. Marjanovic and Harris are two best friends, and it’s safe to say Philly fans will love getting to know Bobi and Tobi for the rest of the season. Having Boban as a viable backup to Joel Embiid provides the Sixers with the opportunity to still remain in games, even with MVP-candidate Embiid on the bench.

At Spike’s Trophies in Philadelphia, we are always pulling for the local team to bring home the championship. In fact, we are such big Sixers fans that we were proud to supply the personalization for the commemorative mementos for the honoring of the jersey retirement ceremony for Sixer Moses Malone.
