A Look Ahead to the Eagles’ 2019 Season

With the NFL preseason now underway and the Philadelphia Eagles’ regular-season starting on September 8 with a 1:00 matchup against the Washington Redskins, now is an excellent time to look ahead to the upcoming season with all the excitement and anticipation you’d expect from Philadelphia’s leading supplier of trophies and plaques of all kinds. Here’s what we see in our crystal ball:

Carson Wentz will have his best season yet.

Though Wentz’s 2017 debut got a lot of attention, his 2018 season was shaping up to be an even better year before his knee injury brought his season to a crushing halt. Unless something like that happens again, Wentz will continue to build off past success and reach milestones like 40 touchdowns and 4,000 yards on the season. Of course, if this happens, the rest of the team will deserve some of the credit, especially thanks to some strategic off-season moves the team made. Recent drafts like Andre Dillard and Miles Sanders, as well as trades for Jordan Howard and DeSean Jackson (who’ll be playing for the Eagles for the first time since 2013, after stints with the Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), will help to make this offensive success possible. If Wentz does happen to get injured, the team has a solid back-up QB with Nate Sudfeld.

The Eagles’ defense will be one of the best in the NFL.

The best offense is a strong defense, and a strong defense is exactly what you should expect from Philadelphia this season. With new Eagles taking flight, Malik Jackson and Vinny Curry added to an already impressive defensive lineup including Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, and Derek Barnett, the team’s defense will be a force to be reckoned with.

The Eagles will cruise into the Playoffs.

If all of these things go right, it’s not out of the question that the Eagles could be on their way to another Vince Lombardi Trophy, a repeat of their Super Bowl LII victory. They definitely have a reasonable chance of winning the NFC East, possibly by multiple games.
